[PELHAM, ALABAMA] Whitman Publishing announced the release of the expanded and updated sixth edition of Q. David Bowers’ A Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars. The book is now available from booksellers and hobby shops nationwide for $19.95. It is also available through online sellers including Whitman.com.
The latest edition of the Guide Book’s coin-by-coin retail valuations have been updated to reflect today’s market: 11 circulated and Mint State grades and three levels of Proof. Certified-coin population commentary has been updated. Also included is a new, illustrated, nine-page appendix on the discovery of dies, hubs, and models for the 1964 Morgan dollar, and a new appendix on counterfeit coins in today’s marketplace.
Numerous edits were made throughout the sixth edition, reflecting new research and insight on George Morgan’s professional relationship and personal friendship with engraver Charles E. Barber. The index has also been expanded for easy navigation of the book.
