The four 2019 American Innovation $1 coins are about to hit the streets in a special four-coin proof set. The United States Mint will launch the 2019 American Innovation $1 Coin Proof Set at 12 noon (ET) on October 11, 2019. The four coins included in the set honor significant innovations or innovators from the states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Georgia.
The four proof coins, showcasing mirror-like fields and frosted devices and inscriptions, are minted at the San Francisco Mint and carry “S” mintmarks. The American Innovation dollar series is a 57-coin series that began in 2018 with a single introduction coin and kicked off in earnest during 2019 with the first coins honoring pioneers and important innovations from individual states. The coins are being issued in the order that each state joined the Union or each United States territory joined the commonwealth.
The Delaware dollar honors astronomer Annie Jump Cannon, who created a system of charting and classifying stars. The Pennsylvania dollar recognizes the polio vaccine. The New Jersey dollar commemorates the development of a light bulb and filament lasting 1,200 hours. And the Georgia dollar pays homage to Trustees’ Garden, established in the 1830s as the first agriculture experiment gardens in the United States.

The 2019 American Innovation $1 Coin Proof Set comes in a handsome, blue-themed lens and a certificate of authenticity. The proof set will be issued for $20.95 and at present has no production or household limits.
